Springfield Mayor Drops Out Of Race For Congress

Springfield - Springfield Mayor Sid Leiken has dropped out of the race for Congress, and says he will run for a seat on the Lane County Commission. Leiken had been the subject of an investigation by the state’s election division over his mayoral campaign committee, and money paid to his mother for polling. When asked if dropping out because of campaign financing investigation Leiken explains,”Oh no, no not at all, in fact that is such old news that even when I was on the road, that one thing was never brought up.” When asked if money was an issue, if he was having problems raising money for the race Leiken explains, “Yeah money was pretty challenging. My goal was to raise money right here, and within the district”. When asked about the county commission race, he said that in almost ten years of being Mayor of Springfield, he had accomplished the goals he had set.
