Eugene - Amie Csiszer is trying on gowns at Eugene’s Something Borrowed Bridal Boutique for her big day. The something borrowed is the dress. She will have the gown for the day, and then return it, paying a fraction of the cost. “You can get a gorgeous designer gown, maybe something you could never afford if you bought it. You can wear it on your wedding day, and you don’t have to have it seating in your closet after the fact,” Amie says. Rosana Perry who owns the shop says the tread is catching on. “I’ve had 67 phone calls in the last three months of brides wanting to rent. Out of that, 40 have actually come through the shop. Out of those 40, there been 36 that have actually rented,” Rosana says. On average a designer wedding dress costs two thousand dollars. Here, brides rent a dress for one hundred and fifty dollars, plus a refundable damage deposit. That is a savings of eighteen hundred and fifty dollars.
