New State Treasurer Appointed

Oregon - Tuesday Oregon’s Governor Ted Kulongoski appointed Ted Wheeler to be Oregon State Treasurer. He will replace Ben Westlund, who died this weekend from lung cancer. Wheeler was friends of Westland, and says it’s bitter sweet opportunity to continue his public service. “I do wish the circumstances were different. I certainly wish the timing was different, but I accept this challenge without regret, and with confidence, and I can provide good stewardship of Oregon’s resources, and good values to the tax payers,” Wheeler explains. Wheeler is currently the Multnomah County commission chairman, he will be sworn in on Thursday.
