Eugene - Nearly three thousand people visit the downtown Eugene library every day. Now the library has added music around its building, hoping it will create a good vibe. “At first I was wondering where it was coming from, then I caught on to it and it was speakers on the wall. I really enjoyed it, and I hope they continue doing it,” Joshua Franks explains. The music comes from the library’s collection of more than 22 thousand CDs. While library officials say they will only be playing classical, and smooth jazz selections, they will take request. If you hear something you like, the staff can tell you the title of the song, and you can request to borrow the CD. Officials say they want to make the library more inviting, so by adding music, and a new smoking ban around the building, they are hoping to make it more welcoming. No matter what you hear on the outside, library officials say they will continue to play these tunes to welcome you in.
