Eugene, OR - Resident Halls at the University of Oregon, house more than 3,000 students, but fall 2010 that won’t be enough for the incoming class. About 500 students are on a waiting list. More students than usual accepted that offer to enroll, and more chose to live in the dorms. The university is working to find other housing options, and have posted on a Facebook group called UO Apartment/Roommate Connection. On that Facebook page, students can find a list of different apartments in Eugene. The university is also partnered with The Courtside Apartments, which are being built in the east campus area. They are offering nine month contracts. Students are concerned that the newbie’s will miss out on a big part of the freshmen experience. Students can still eat at the dorms, join academic groups, and have access to all the same university resources.
