Church Extends Hours

Springfield - A Springfield Church will stay open late this week, so that homeless people can get out of the heat. The First of the Nazarene has a day center for the homeless every weekday. It’s normally open from 10 am till early afternoon. Starting on Wednesday the church will remain open till 7pm. So people can stay cool during the hottest hours of the day. Bonnie Williams explains,” People die in this heat, and we wouldn’t want to be sitting in our nice cool church or our nice cool homes saying we didn’t make a place for them.” The church is on the corner of E street and 18th Street in Springfield. They have air conditioning, food, and a shower.
